UX Writing: Pop-up with Medium Friction
Client: Ollert
Work: Design a pop-up window with a medium level of friction
CHALLENGE
Create a pop-up for a destructive delete project feature.
-
Users must understand all of the data that will be lost before taking the action.
-
Make sure the users understand that there is no project history and that the action cannot be undone once it’s been executed.
-
The hierarchy is: teams > projects > tasks, so deleting a project should be medium friction. Stronger than deleting a task, but less than deleting a team.

SOLUTION
-
Use a clear and concise headline
-
Clear body copy to explain what users need to know before any action.
-
Create medium friction by requiring users to check the boxes to acknowledge what they will delete along with the project before they can delete it.
-
Color the primary action "DELETE PROJECT" to create the hierarchy: DELETE PROJECT > KEEP IT.
